Stein Sperling has an immediate opening for a full-time experienced legal assistant to assist our busy tax practice. The desired candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience as an assistant in the legal, tax and/or business fields, and/or a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting. In the Tax Department, our legal assistants provide day-to-day administrative support for multiple attorneys, which may include, but is not necessarily limited to, proofing/editing/formatting documents, scanning and copying, processing incoming mail, maintaining files (both electronic and hard copy), independently performing conflict checks searches on potential clients, drafting cover letters for routine correspondence, preparing IRS and state tax department power of attorney forms, obtaining IRS transcripts online, mailing packages with strict notice requirements, sending faxes, maintaining attorneys’ calendars, answering phones, and interacting with clients and being the first point of contact. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is able to exercise independent judgment, has an attention to detail and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams preferred. Overtime on occasion may be necessary. This is not a remote work position.
