Stein Sperling has an immediate opening for an Associate Attorney in our Rockville, Maryland office to join the firm’s growing Tax Practice Group. This position will participate in all facets of tax law including becoming a key contributor in the Tax Group’s large tax controversy and litigation support practices. This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate to expand their legal knowledge and practical experience while working alongside a nationally recognized and diverse group of Maryland based attorneys. The candidate will work closely with the Principals of the Tax Practice Group in connection with the group’s tax controversy practice on both the federal and state level, including matters related to examination, appeals, tax court litigation, voluntary disclosures, offshore asset compliance and collection alternatives (negotiating installment agreements and offers in compromise). In addition, the candidate will fill a vital role in the Tax Practice Group’s litigation support practice. Tasks include business valuation, determination of economic income and tracing analysis. This position demands significant client contact almost immediately and involves research, strategizing, and interacting with others both inside and outside the Firm, including tax authorities.
This position requires a CPA. Knowledge of, and experience with, federal income tax procedure is preferred. Applicants must be barred in Maryland or eligible to sit for the Maryland Bar exam.
